Confession time: I sort of miss the Doctor Who fandom. Even though I didn't really appreciate season three (but there were some good episodes such as Human Nature/The Family of Blood, Blink, The Shakespeare Code and The Sound of Drums) or season four (exceptions made for Partners in Crime, The Fires of Pompeii, Planet of Ood and The Unicorn and the Wasp and possibly Turn Left). But I still miss it. The fandom and the British English. But I'm megaexcited for the new Doctor and everything that's coming up later and I hope that the specials we are going to be given are going to be good.

Everyone should watch Dollhouse. Honestly. The show is so awesome ♥ I will have picspam later and an episode review of the most recent episode because this show needs lovin'.

I'm actually in the middle of watching Party Animals (with Matt Smith - not a total coincidence) and I just have to say that I really love it. I've just seen episode seven so the probably very awesome finale is something I'm going to watch tomorrow. I really really like it. I think the actors are great and politics is really interesting and yeah... give it a shot. It's only eight episodes, but it's eight really good episodes.

Not to be completely one-minded, I'm still anxiously waiting on more UCAS results. I know there's no point in waiting but it's sort of like... sweet self-torture. Completely unavoidable.

Tomorrow I will go into town because apparently there's this big annual meeting in the youth party I'm in. It's going to be quite interesting, I think, but I suddenly feel all this pressure on making myself look pretty. Which is frustrating because when it comes to certain aspects, like my appearance, I'm the laziest person alive. Seriously. I'm quite sure I could win an award if there ever was one.

Huge welcome to all the new people on my flist :D There's quite a few but it feels like I'd forget someone if I counted them so I'm not going to so that no one will feel left out (but you're all equally welcome anyway, it's just that I'm a bit tired)

Speaking of tired. That's just what I am. Tired. It's 3 am right now and I can't sleep even though I really want to. But I think it's because I'm so hyped/scared/many other things about the possibility of going to uni somewhere that's not Sweden. Talk about taking a step out of your comfort zone (it's more me leaping out of my comfort zone and taking a dip into unknown waters) and I started to think about things like 'all my CDs - are they worth taking?' 'What are the chances of a laptop being stolen?' etc. All those things that you'd probably know if you lived there but when you don't... I mean, the thought of being away from my DVDs for a year... or my Josh Groban CDs... I'd so miss it. And having a laptop seems almost mandatory since it allows you to, without any inconvenience, write essays and whatnot, but I don't want to invest in something that might get stolen.

Aside from university, I've been watching Party Animals with Matt Smith. It's actually quite lovely. And it's so fun to see so many people I recognize in that show. I think it's a really good show but maybe that's because I'm interested in politics... And Matt Smith's character, Danny, is utter adorable. Seriously. Look up adorable, and you'll see his character. ♥

I've also seen The Doctor Who Christmas special (I'm late, I know!) and I might make a reaction post later. Also, I'm watching Party Animals to check up on Matt Smith.

The new Doctor has been announced and I'm smelling my return to the DW fandom. He's kind of adorable and I'm very excited to see his take on it all. I find it sort of hilarious that he's done so much with Billie Piper.

I'm not going to mention more since I suppose that some don't want to be spoiled. I still haven't seen the Christmas special but I suppose I will, maybe. I don't know, I just think that the show needs some new blood and that's why I've got hopes for Doctor #11. I think it's gonna be great.

(I know it must be tiresome with yet another entry on your flist, but... I just had to comment :))

I thought I'd share something about myself. And I thought what better than to share the top three fandoms that have really been... important to me, somehow. Obviously, there are a lot of fandoms which I have very fond memories of and probably like better than one of these three these days, but I thought I'd share those that back in the day, was THE fandom, or at least pretty close. That some how mark a turning point or a peak in my fandom!life.

This fan fic is the first I have written for the Doctor Who fandom in a while, but when I finished it, I felt like it was absolutely perfect. It was precisely what I wanted to say. Then I realized that I had written the thing in two tenses so I had to change, so if there are any grammar mistakes, I'm terribly sorry, but I don't think there are that many.

The fic is under here )

I'm frightened, I'm excited and I'm pessmistic. DW really knows how to get on my nerves. In a 'let's make me really really anxious' sort of way (not the 'i am annoyed' way). I keep seeing the first reactions popping up on my flist and I see exclaimation marks and whatnot floating around and I just... scccchhhh. I'm so anxious

To celebrate my return (and finding an excuse to use Photoshop) I decided to pretty up my journal a little, with pictures :D So hereby, I present:

I caved

starsthatshine: (scc: team salvation)
OK, it's official, I suck at hiatuses. I think it's fairy evident to say that I can't stay away for a longer period of time. Anyway, I'm caving and I'm coming back. (Did I mention I hate typing on this computer?) I'll try to update daily but I won't succeed every time.

A few hours ago, the newspaper was here and did a sort of article about me and my sister since we turn eighteen next week (mark it down people, 13th July). It went sort of well and I hope they choose the picture of us in the shade because the ones of us in the sun were sort of fugly if you compare.

I watched an interview with Thomas Dekker about the upcoming season of Sarah Connor Chronicles. I am so excited! Can you tell I'm excited? It's going to be totally crazy and lovely and just... *sigh* Which is why I made a new layout: [livejournal.com profile] aliasagent New codes, header and everything.

And there's been some DW, so naturally there should be thoughts.

Thoughts about the latest DW )

I just saw that Wanted doesn't air here until September 21st. Oh, the horror. I've started to become to psyched about seeing it. Major bummer. I was so looking forward to seeing Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy in a movie together.
starsthatshine: (actress: clemence poesy)
I'm taking some time after my post-food exhaustion (for those who do not know every time I eat a meal, afterwards I become incredibly exhausted). I went to the library today and borrowed Marion Zimmer-Bradley's Mists of Avalon and Neil Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors. It's going to be awesome. Besides reading, I'm going to catch up on Doctor Who and practice for my Cambridge Exam (it's THREE days away - I'm getting a bit nervous, but it shall work itself out, I hope). Keep your fingers crossed? Yes? :D

Huge happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] morbidmuse, I hope you have a fantastic birthday.

I just watched War & Peace (2007) - and I loved it ♥

DW commentary later.
starsthatshine: (dw: man @ work)
I've finally caught up on Doctor Who and I have a few comments about it. Putting both episode thoughts under cuts in case there's someone like me who can be a bit... behind sometimes.

The Unicorn and the Wasp )

Silence in the Library )

I think in general, my love for Doctor Who is returning, thanks to TUATW, even though SITL made it slightly bruised. I can't wait for new episodes (although I'm not looking forward for next episode that much, it will just be nice to have things resolved I suppose).

Any recs?

I'm really in the mood to print out some fan fictions and keep it in this folder that I have so I can read good fics without having to go online or such. Or keep like an archive of good fics on my computer. And therefore I'm asking you whether or not you have any favourites in these fandoms that you think I could enjoy:

Doctor Who (Doctor/Rose or gen, Master/Lucy), Supernatural (gen and/or Sam/Ruby), Gossip Girl (Eric & Chuck friendship, Chuck/Blair, Blair/Nate, Vanessa/Dan, Vanessa/Nate), X-Files, Sarah Connor Chronicles (John/Cameron, Cameron/Derek or some sort of triangle), Smallville (Clark/Lois, Lois/Oliver, Lois & Jimmy), Torchwood (Ianto/Jack, Ianto/Owen, Owen/Tosh, Ianto/John - haha, just something I thought of - oh the plot bunnies I just had), Ugly Betty (Betty/Gio), Criminal Minds (Reid, gen), Life on Mars (gen, Sam/Annie), Veronica Mars (Veronica/Weevil, Veronica/Lamb, Veronica/Duncan, Veronica/Piz, gen), Battlestar Galactica (Gaius/Six), Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel (I guess I can read anything but Spuffy and/or Angel/Cordelia at this point).

Also, huge happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] missambs :D
starsthatshine: (spn: dean wtf?)
I've decided since like I'm the only one that hasn't watched a single episode of Sex and the City, I thought I'd start now. I just watched the pilot and I'm at the beginning of the second episode. It's really interesting, it has some potential. I can get why people began to hype it so much.

I don't know why but every time I see an icon of Doctor Who, especially of David Tennant, I feel like posting something. I kinda love it.

Another thing I also really love today: my little sister. I haven't seen much of her today but she's in a good mood and she made chocolate balls (which I've been eating like crazy - I'm telling you, I'm gaining pounds by the second ;))

I was looking at the Office and it struck me how INCREDIBLY similar a guy in my class is to John Krasinski (for those of you who go in my class, you know Johan? I think he's really similar) not only physically but also a little bit in his mannerism. I don't know him so well so I can comment on his personality but... I don't know, something about him just strikes me as Jim-ish. I don't think you can find a closer Jim lookalike in real life, at least not around here.

Sometimes I really want to write a Supernatural fic but you know... Am I the only one who feels that the show is so awesome that it feels like you're... spoiling a perfect product? I mean, like you can't compete with the product they produce so, why bother? You know?

Am I alone in this feeling? I sort of makes me wish Supernatural was a bit more... bad, as horrible as it sounds. That way I would be able to write fic. :P
starsthatshine: (mars: hello mrs wallace)
Still pulling out a general request of a header to my journal to whoever feels charitable ;) Fandoms: Doctor Who, Veronica Mars, Supernatural, Life on Mars, X-Men, Sarah Connor Chronicles and/or X-Files. I'd love to have at least three different fandoms in the header. (Sorry if I'm being a pain, I hope I'm not :))

Huge happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] feminosity.

I'm suppose to write a speech for Swedish class based on the theme Truth and Fiction, which is easier said than done. I'm in sheer panic-mode. I'm supposed to be prepared tomorrow and I don't even have a SUBJECT. And to make things even more hellish, I'm suppose to use the material which exists in a little leaflet and it's close to impossible.

We had a UN roleplay yesterday at school and I was a delegate for Saudi Arabia and according to various, completely unrelated comments, I was best dressed. Awesomeness.
starsthatshine: (office: the temptation burns)
My Internet is currently working on my laptop. It's really really weird.

Speaking of something, I now have OpenSuse on my other computer :D Although, I need to find a Divx codec and an mp3 codec and VLC player or GOM Player for Suse. And I need to get how you run files as root in order to install them in KDE. Anyone happen to know? Suse is kicking my butt.

I'm listening to Gabriellas song by Helen Sjöholm *squee* This song is so beautiful. I can listen to this song forever. The lyrics are so amazing.

The latest episode of Doctor Who (4x02) has to be one of my favourite episodes EVER. I dunno... just the story, acting and stuff like that. Although the plot reminded me slightly of the audiobook The Stone Rose (omg, I must find it again, I think I've lost it *cries*)
