I usually don't talk about Gossip Girl these days but...

cut for spoilers for 2x18 - The Age of Dissonance )

We're having a UN roleplay this year (again) at school and now that I'm in the senior class it's time for me to step up and make a speech that won't embarrass the hell out of me like last year - but now when I remember last year it was good fun do more stuff actively in that roleplay and this year I'm becoming Russia! In a way a challenge because I had hoped for a less... I don't know. But nevertheless, I have to start researching Russia as well as I can now so that I'm well-prepared, even if I don't know the subject yet. I'm a dork like that. But if it's something about the environment, I'm going to be seriously displeased. I have a 50 point course that focuses on environmental politics. I hope this year is going to be good.

If anyone wants to help me get info on Russia, that would be greatly appreciated. Are there any subjects which Russia really has strong believes in? I happen to know that their environmental awareness might not be the best in the world... Or so I claimed when I researched it for class earlier.

Now I'm going to watch the rest of Che: Part One with Benicio del Torro ♥ (another reminder why I'm still taking Spanish class!)

I need to remove this cold. ASAP.

I don't know what it is about Gossip Girl that makes me break my hiatus officially but here goes...

I feel like being a bit shallow and well... I have a lot of free time and I want to do something fun. So I thought, 'hey Gossip Girl, I haven't really loved you that much lately but if I watch episodes in a row and now that I don't have that much to worry about - perhaps you'll approve?' and then, I decided to do a marathon. And I need your help to figure out which episode should be included in that marathon.

[Poll #1318435]

First, Poison Ivy is already a given, because I adore that episode, but I thought I'd throw it in there anyway. Secondly, the less I see of J, the better, since she's far from my favourite character, but don't let that stop you in voting. I can always skip her scenes. So, feel free to vote, it would be really kind of you. Also, I need something to keep me from taking my #5695865 nap today.

Feel free to motivate your answers below :D

I fear that Gossip Girl is falling into the deadly season two ditch.

I feel like I need a fandom to gear up with for the upcoming season. Sarah Connor Chronicles, Gossip Girl or 90210 seems to be big contenders for that spot, but I don't know... Sarah Connor Chronicles is a show that I have to see the new episodes before being able to squee about them. Gossip Girl and 90210 might not have that much underneath its pretty exterior and racy plots, but it's television and I'm pretty sure that 90210 is going to be damn entertaining from what I've seen and Gossip Girl... well, that's always entertainment. Shallow entertainment but right now just what I need. I'm so tired of shows being like... pretentious and being a disappointment so it definitely feels like Gossip Girl and 90210 will be shows that I'll be watching just because it won't disappoint me since there's a different kind of expectations from me and it's less of a chance I'll be disappointed.

I'm thinking about doing a... 'What I am excited about when it comes to 90210' post.

I've sort of started rewatching season one of Gossip Girl. Although I don't have the first two episodes, which is a bummer, I started watching on episode three and I'm now in the process of starting with episode five. I don't know what it is about this show that always makes me want to care about clothes, make-up, fashion and whatnot. Which is also why I've come to the conclusion that it's not good for me, at least not in a logical sense. Also, I'm sort of rebelling against my need to be like... smart, and contemplating everything by watching it, in my own way. I tried to watch like episode eight, but it was out of context so it felt a little bit... weird and surreal, so I'm trying this in order.

The Harry Potter trailer in case you haven't seen it already. Personally, I think it's wonderful.

My dad called me around nine, asking me if this was my new number, and apparently he'd called once before around eight but I hadn't heard it. I mean, dude, it's summer - it's natural to sleep till at least ten. But oh well, it was sort of fun to hear from him even though we only talked under a minute and I was generally pretty confused.

I'm really in the mood to print out some fan fictions and keep it in this folder that I have so I can read good fics without having to go online or such. Or keep like an archive of good fics on my computer. And therefore I'm asking you whether or not you have any favourites in these fandoms that you think I could enjoy:

Doctor Who (Doctor/Rose or gen, Master/Lucy), Supernatural (gen and/or Sam/Ruby), Gossip Girl (Eric & Chuck friendship, Chuck/Blair, Blair/Nate, Vanessa/Dan, Vanessa/Nate), X-Files, Sarah Connor Chronicles (John/Cameron, Cameron/Derek or some sort of triangle), Smallville (Clark/Lois, Lois/Oliver, Lois & Jimmy), Torchwood (Ianto/Jack, Ianto/Owen, Owen/Tosh, Ianto/John - haha, just something I thought of - oh the plot bunnies I just had), Ugly Betty (Betty/Gio), Criminal Minds (Reid, gen), Life on Mars (gen, Sam/Annie), Veronica Mars (Veronica/Weevil, Veronica/Lamb, Veronica/Duncan, Veronica/Piz, gen), Battlestar Galactica (Gaius/Six), Buffy The Vampire Slayer/Angel (I guess I can read anything but Spuffy and/or Angel/Cordelia at this point).

Also, huge happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] missambs :D

I seemed to have missed quite a lot during my... few hours of absense. Firstly, has Gossip Girl aired? Wow, how did I miss this? Also, Supernatural airs soon does it not?

Also, speaking of Supernatural, I've started writing a fic now. It's gen, mostly but with certain Sam/Ruby undertones because otherwise I wouldn't be able to do the storyline I wanted. I've never written Ruby before but it's actually really fun. Also, once you get past the whole 'it's so intimidating' phase of writing Supernatural fiction, it's actually really fun. Not that I'm any good. I think the story is sort of growing into its own although the beginning is quite crap.

I also watched Scarecrow the other day (still on Supernatural mode here ^^) and I love this show so badly. Especially Dean, also I'm quite surprised at myself for not disliking Sam as I usually do. I remember season one I had some very decisive opinions about the younger Winchester but right now I seem to have... lost 'em.

So how are you? I'm about to have French and I'm sensing that it's going to be... Interesting. Also, the date for going to France has been set. 14th of May till the 21st of May I'll be in Brest, surrounded by French. *is scared* I'm excited but dangerously scared of the flying bit.
starsthatshine: (moonlight: i feel the touch)
I changed my layout.

Sorry I haven't been around for the last couple of days but I've been extremely busy with my Asian shows with watching Smiling Pasta. It's sort of decent. It was very addictive but now as I'm approaching the end, as it is with a lot of Asian dramas, it becomes quite tiresome, but we'll see. It makes me wanna rewatch ISWAK.

I'm really happy about the approaching start of Gossip Girl episodes. These pictures make me so happy (spoilers I suppose but since it's sort of vague and out of context and just pictures I wouldn't say that they are high up on the spoiler scale). Damn GG for being such a pretty cast.

Also, I'm trying to work out how to start vlogging, or at least I hope so. The problem is that I babbel and since I'm holding the cellphone while I talk, it's sort of difficult to like... express emotions because you're sort of watching yourself while you talk and that's a weird experience. Definitely not to be recommended ;)

Also, there's some drama going on with my mom that's sort of made me a bit absent from LJ business, but hopefully you guys understand. We'll see if I feel like explaining.

Tomorrow I'll start that whole "blog about something you usually don't talk about" thing and then you'll get your answers ;) For those who want me to comment on something, you just need to go back one or two entries and comment there, or comment in this post :D I'd love more and more subjects to talk about :D

I'm gonna try and catch the two last episodes of Moonlight now.
starsthatshine: (gossip: something beautiful)
It kinda hurts having six userpics. I know that if I ever get any kind of money (or well... a credit card), I'll invest in more userpics because having to choose between the.... X amount of icons I have saved (I think it's actually up to something like 7000 without being dramatic) is torture. All those Sarah Connor Chronicles, X-Files, X-Men, Doctor Who, Being Human, Gossip Girl, Supernatural etc. icons that I have to pass down because of the lack of space :( Woe. I don't know why but sometimes it's just... liberating on such trivial matters as a shortage of icon space.

Happy birthday [livejournal.com profile] coffeegirl18, I hope you have an amazing one.

Things to do this week:

- Finish that History paper I've so glamorously "forgotten"
- Do Spanish test
- Read "Seven Spiritual Laws to Success" (pfft, I like reading those sorts of things because well... it's an interesting read)
- Do a 'Why we should all watch Being Human'-post
- Finish the second last episode of season one of X-Files and start on the second season. Oh, Krycek, I can't wait for your evil face to appear on my screen ♥
- Do English test
- Do Being Human icons
- Work on my John/Cameron fansite (anyone interested in giving a hand?)

Anyway, as you might imagine, I will have quite a few things to do, although most of these things probably won't take long. And therefore, I'm going to ask anyone, who is willing, to give me a plot which I will write a story out of. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just so that I'll start writing something. Preferably something fantasy/young adult/supernatural thingy because well... I feel like writing something like that.

I don't know why but I became in the mood of writing something corny like:
Kevin, a seventeen year old vampire lord, has to battle with English tests, hormones, a coven of angry, vengeful witches and, of course, another clan of vampires moving in on his territory.

lol. I amuse myself. Anyone interested in reading that? I guess I'm looking for something to write where I don't have to be 100% serious all the time.

Oh, and I finished reading 'Le Mur' of Jean-Paul Sartre (easy reader!French, of course, since I'm not that strong in the French language) YAY! :D It's about three prisoners, right?, that get sentenced to death during the Fascism (is that the correct term for that period of time?) and this one guy is being sentenced to death because he refuses to give the military information of the whereabouts of someone and just as he's about to get executed he gives the military false information, thinking it would be funny to send them on a wild goose chase, but he ends up not being executed because it turns out they found the guy at the location he said. Did I understand the story correctly?

I've decided that I'm going to watch more television on, well, television. It might seem like a stupid thing to say but the truth is I've more or less stopped watching what airs around here. And what am I going to watch? Well, I was thinking Criminal Minds (♥), CSI NY (I saw it aired yesterday) and Gossip Girl.

Also, I think I'm getting sick. My throat feels clogged. I really hope I'm not getting sick. J'espère je ne suis pas malade. Or something. Can you write it like that? Feels weird. Also, for those who knows, how come that for example in A Very Long Engagement they say "J'ai pas faim" instead of "Je n'ai pas faim"?
starsthatshine: (spn: does these tacos taste funny?)
I had this really embarrassing thing that happened to me today before PE which involved me speaking French and God... I really love the language, but c'est impossible pour moi apprendre la langue. At least not speaking-wise. And I really want to get the information stuck in my head, so in attempt to save my declining French (or something) I got a hold of three French language courses. Hopefully, they're going to help me out. And I've decided to watch a bit of A Very Long Engagement (the only French movie I have, I bought it since I couldn't find Amélie) every day in hope for something to happen. Keep your fingers crossed!

Apparently Gossip Girl starts again April 21st or something, which I think is good news. I think time is going to fly by and I'm so glad that GG will start airing again. It's the perfect show to relax and just watch out of pure enjoyment. It's not as "serious" and prestigious as other shows can be. For example, the angst on Supernatural (♥ that show) is pretty hard to digest and sometimes it's so larger than live that it's... just... out there, you know? It's such an overload of emotions sometimes that even though it's a fantastic show with fantastic writers and staff and whatnot, it can be difficult to watch just because of the heck of it. Gossip Girl isn't like that. You can sort of watch and make fun of the show without feeling that you're betraying something. Sort of, does that make sense?

I seem to have some sort of template as of late how my entries are being written. First something personal, and then I end with a fandom musing.

Huge welcome to [livejournal.com profile] scullyish and [livejournal.com profile] lovekissed to my flist :D I hope you're going to have an awesome time.

The day has gone so fast and yet so slow. It feels like it was last year I woke up in my bed and decided what I was going to wear for school. It almost feels like I was born in these clothes.

Yesterday I discovered that Atonement isn't screened in my town, which of course was followed by several bad words and nasty glares at the theater website. But let's just say... I took matter in my own hands. Review of this highly anticipated James McAvoy-filled piece of goodness will follow in a couple of hours after I've seen it.

I emailed St Andrews today which pretty much equals a panic attack because I'm always so afraid of coming across as a complete incomprehensible moron who have no comprehension of the English language. More on this exciting adventure to come.

I read this today (Gossip Girl review/overview of the season) and I kind of loved it, even if I didn't agree with much of it. I especially loved when the writer concluded that guys like Dan doesn't exist and that Serena's sweet and lovely but she's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed (which I see not as an insult but more like a fact or something because when I think of smart, in Gossip Girl terms, I don't exactly get an image of Serena in my head). (Just to clarify in case someone misunderstands me: I do not hate Serena. At all. On the contrary I think she's really sweet)
