Huge welcome to all the new people on my flist :D There's quite a few but it feels like I'd forget someone if I counted them so I'm not going to so that no one will feel left out (but you're all equally welcome anyway, it's just that I'm a bit tired)

Speaking of tired. That's just what I am. Tired. It's 3 am right now and I can't sleep even though I really want to. But I think it's because I'm so hyped/scared/many other things about the possibility of going to uni somewhere that's not Sweden. Talk about taking a step out of your comfort zone (it's more me leaping out of my comfort zone and taking a dip into unknown waters) and I started to think about things like 'all my CDs - are they worth taking?' 'What are the chances of a laptop being stolen?' etc. All those things that you'd probably know if you lived there but when you don't... I mean, the thought of being away from my DVDs for a year... or my Josh Groban CDs... I'd so miss it. And having a laptop seems almost mandatory since it allows you to, without any inconvenience, write essays and whatnot, but I don't want to invest in something that might get stolen.

Aside from university, I've been watching Party Animals with Matt Smith. It's actually quite lovely. And it's so fun to see so many people I recognize in that show. I think it's a really good show but maybe that's because I'm interested in politics... And Matt Smith's character, Danny, is utter adorable. Seriously. Look up adorable, and you'll see his character. ♥

Hehe. I'm not sure if I find it exciting. I like playing with the idea but thinking that I'm actually (well, hopefully) going to do this brings me to a state of something seeming like terror.

It's probably too early to start thinking about since I've only heard back from one uni, but I can't help not thinking about it. I'm quite an excessive thinker. I think too much and I'm trying to find a cure not to. ... Needless to say, not going so well.

I'm the same way! My parents always tell me I think too much but it's impossible not too! I am planning on studying abroad in Denmark or Sweden, but only for a year, and the wait is killing me, and I'm excited but nervous because I'm American and yeah, America is kind of a sucky country compared to western Europe. My mom is very anti-American because when she was growing up all the Americans who came to visit Sweden were so obnoxious. :/

I hope you enjoy it if you do go! I have a lot of problems with anxiety but I think it's worth taking the risk.

So you don't think there's a chance of it getting stolen?

You can actually buy locks for your laptop, you could look into that. Or just don't let it out of your sight, etc. Either way, definitely take it - I would have been screwed without my laptop in the first year!

I don't know how the conditions are at the university and there's always a chance that, wherever you are, it will get stolen. I do know however that having a laptop will make your university life significantly easier. AND I guess that you can make an insurance of some kind?

Where do you want to study?

I finish school this year as well and the thought of going abroad (UK!) to continue my studies has crossed my mind thousands of times, but it seems as much scary as it does exciting. It makes me worried that I wouldn't be able to pull it off and be too homesick most of the time. *sigh* I know some people who are successfully studying abroad, though, so I hope it goes very well for you too!

My ideal place is either St Andrews or Edinburgh.

Look at it this way, studying abroad might be scary and all that, but I think it's sort of the effort that counts. You won't know if it's for you unless you tried :) For the upcoming year (autumn '09 - forward) the last application date for unis in the UK are Jan 15th, if I remember correctly.
