After surveying the last couple of entries on my friends list it seems like most of them are surprised over Serena's big secret. Personally, I found it sort of... predictable. The moment she started 'I can't tell anyone' I called it. Because frankly, she was already doing drugs back in the day, so I couldn't find anything that would top that more than murder.
Blair wore the prettiest clothes in this episode and I'm glad that she's returning to form. For the past few episodes, she's been really out of shape and sort of... very unlike herself. She's coming back and I'm so happy. Blair must be queen, otherwise her character is just... off. Somehow. I like that they showed Blair's softness (because unlike Jenny, Blair's bitchness emminates from low self-asteem and self-protection. Blair isn't bitchy to everyone, whereas Jenny is it to all) and that in contrast to Jenny's coldness. I'm not saying Jenny is without heart but the thing is that she doesn't have one redeeming quality in my mind. Her family isn't Upper East Siders and her failure to acknowledge that and her reluctance to understand her own and her family's situation is unforgivable to me. I cannot seriously see one positive thing about her because it appears as though she can only be kind if it's on her own terms.
When Jenny came home and cried her eyes out in her dad's arms, I don't know... Personally, I was still fuming and I feel that if I had been in that scene, I would probably tell her off or something. But then again, I've never had a daughter and I think if it were my little sister, I'd still try to comfort her. But seriously though, she must've known that she was losing her "friends" so one would think that she would be prepared. She sat herself in the boat, fully knowing the possible outcomes...
Anyway, enough ranting about her because I could go on for daaays.
Eric's coming out was nicely done. Sort of. I had sort of hoped that we would actually get to see a kiss between Asher and Eric but apparently not. What a bummer. But other than that - A+. Sort of. I think it was nicely handled. I liked that Lily's reaction was... realistic. A lot of people feel like they lose a child once they say that they are gay because things like grandchildren and weddings won't happen. I read that somewhere, no idea where though, but that's why I sort of felt that Lily's talk of how scared she was for Eric's happiness and stuff, was spot on. Sort of.
Eric/Chuck friendship for the win though :D
... I really think that Chuck must be an incredibly lonely character. Judging how quickly he jumped on the family bandwagon and stuff. I want him to stop being lonely and I think Eric and Chuck could develop a beautiful friendship.
Huge happy birthdays

Date: 2008-05-07 08:33 pm (UTC)I'm glad you agree with me :D Personally, I don't think I dislike a character on TV as much as Jenny because she kind of goes against almost all of my ideals and stuff.

Date: 2008-05-07 06:51 pm (UTC)Jenny definitely did bring it upon herself. I'm so pissed that she was crying in the end. I was like okay, she finally gets the reality check, but seriously she should've known from the very beginning of the many possibilities. Cry me a freaking river.
I completely agree about Eric's coming out.

Date: 2008-05-07 08:39 pm (UTC)I'm glad we agree. She had really put herself in that situation fully knowing it and therefore it just seems like she's needy and spoiled when she goes crying to daddy. I think it would've been better if she'd just pretended like nothing and then went into her room and cried there. Sort of. Maybe I'm weird but I think that shows a little bit more... dignity in her situation. I'm not, of course, saying though that people should cry alone, but you know what I mean ^^ Hopefully.
Yay :D

Date: 2008-05-07 08:54 pm (UTC)Yeah, and I HATED how she went to Blair and started off spewing her whole holier-than-thou speech. It's like, she doesn't have the right to enter Blair's home and tell her that she was done with that life and tired of competing with her. Nobody forced her to do anything, she put everyone upon herself and took the selfish route and now that she's been outted as a liar and scumbag she wants to turn the blame onto others? Sorry babe, you don't get sympathy from me. You knew what was coming, you should take responsiblity and the consequences for your actions.
Jenny in general over these last several episodes have made me want to scream and bitchslap her for her mindlessness. Just, argh.

Date: 2008-05-07 07:50 pm (UTC)I'm hoping for a heart warming Eric/Chuck brotherly scene soon... I missed Chuck in this episode.

Date: 2008-05-07 08:39 pm (UTC)Chuck was dearly missed, although I'm seriously missing Blair/Chuck scenes. I think those characters compliment each other so perfectly and they are good together, as characters, when they interact with each other. Not just because I'm a shipper ^^
