My X-Files DVDs haven't arrived yet so I emailed Amazon (man, it was difficult finding a link) and they replied and then there's this part of the email that I can't quite understand:

Also, please let us know if you would like us to create a replacement order, or if you would prefer to be refunded for the lost package.

What does a replacement order mean? That I order something else instead of what I ordered? Or? Also, if you prefer to be refunded for the lost package... Like they give me money for my agony (because waiting is an agony ^^) or if they just ignore sending the order and give me back my money? Or?

Help me. I'm a bit confused as you might notice

A replacement order is that they send the order again. Refunding is just refunding the money you paid. I don't think they'll offer extra money as it's not their fault it got lost in the mail and the fact they offer the shipment again or to refund you is already a loss on their end.

That's true. So I have to choose between being refunded or having the packages sent again?

That's my understanding of it, yes. I also know of someone who didn't receive her stuff from Amazon, so they just send it again (and in the end she got the first package very delayed too LOL)

lol. Did she return the late one or did she keep both and ended up having duplicates? :P

She returned it and ended up having to pay shipping costs for that I believe. I would've kept it, and given the duplicate set to someone I know would like it too, lol

Do you think I should wait further or claim a replacement order? I think it was supposed to be here on the 16th or 18th.

Not sure what type of shipment you chose or the ETA for the order, but you can always try. It's in Amazon's interest to not send a replacement too soon (in case the first shipment arrives a tad too late) so they just won't answer if you apply for it too early

A replacement order is just the same items sent to you again without you paying for them twice, they just assume the first lot got lost somewhere.

But yeah, the refund is money for your terrible 'waiting by the door' agony :)

Okies.

So I have to choose between being refunded or having the packages sent again?

Yes, that's exactly right!

haha, take the replacement order, if you're lucky you'll end up with two XFiles boxes :D That happens to most people.

Haha. I'd actually get four. I'm ordering season one and season two. Oh, the possibilities.

I agree, go with replacement and end up with two *laughs*

I also want to add that my friend ordered a bunch of comics through me and they got delivered well, friday and today, when they were supposed to have been dleivered a couple of weeks ago.
maybe Amazon orders here are just a bit slow right now?

lol. Four actually since I'm ordering two seasons ;)

Perhaps, but then I think they should extend the ETA so they don't get annoyed customers. It's weird because there was also a book in that order and that came before its ETA. Weird.

they are a bit weird...
their ETA is usually spanning like a month and yet sometimes you get stuff early or late
I hope my BSG box gets here within the ETA at least ^^;;;

Had the exact same problem with Amazon regarding a movie I ordered in December. On my part I did wait a little too long before sending them an e-mail and less than 24 hours laters they replied with the same kind of e-mail you got. Naturally you want the item you ordered in the first place, so I chose a replacement order instead of a refund -- assuming that the movie was in still stock. Three days later my movie arrived and I had officially forgiven Amazon for something that wasn't even techinally their fault, but my deprieved inner fangirl doesn't always understand that. :P

I hope your X-Files arrives soon! (Assuming you're going with a replacement order btw.) ♥
