Title: The Doctor Will See You Now (6/6)
Fandom: Life on Mars/Doctor Who crossover
Rating: PG
Summary: Doctor and Rose travel to the 70's to see the sights but end up seeing something entirely different from what they'd planned.
Spoilers: Entire Life on Mars (but set sometime post-s1) and early season two Doctor Who
Pairings: Sam/Annie, implied Gene/Sam, Doctor/Rose if you want but nothing really shippy.
Notes: Probably my first non-ship fic. I just got this story that I wanted to tell in my head and well... I told it. One could argue perhaps that I made Sam/Annie shippy but I don't really think so since I, at least in my own opinion, made them very close to canon. I tried to be as faithful as I could to both "realities" when I brought them together
Previously; Chapter One | Chapter Two | Chapter Three | Chapter Four | Chapter Five
Chapter Six/Epilogue: Stay
Sam took a big breath and pushed the doors open to the office. According to the Doctor, they would only have been gone for a moment. Nothing drastic besides his goodbyes would’ve happened. And yet… he felt dazzled, confused. Nothing seemed reachable. Everything seemed so far away.
He saw Gene’s face snap to his, his lips pressing together a small, discontented frown. The rest of the office turned around as well, all looking at Sam as if he was the last thing they’d ever see again. He saw Chris grin at him, as if he knew something. Sam smiled half-heartedly. Chris knowing something that he himself could barely understand… Now that was a concept.
“So you decided to come back now, ey?” Gene snarled, glaring at him as if he was something the cat dragged in.
“I changed my mind,” Sam grinned, faking a smile at him.
Gene looked at him, his eyes lingering at his for a moment and then he shrugged his shoulders and that was that. He was back in.
Sam turned his head to search for Annie, but saw her nowhere. The warm brunette seemed to have vaporised from the face of the Earth. As he looked around, he caught Chris’ eye.
“Over there, boss,” he said and pointed at the door, knowing who he was searching for.
With a small smile of thanks, Sam walked out of the door and looked for Annie. He eventually found her in ‘Lost Properties’, leaning against a stack of shelves, sobbing. He kneeled down beside her, his gaze completely fixed on her face.
He wasn’t sure if she knew he’d entered, but nonetheless, he reached out his arm and pressed her into a hug. She hung to the fabric of his jacket and began to cry against his neck. He pulled her closer, resting his cheek against her hair, feeling the beat of her heart against his chest and the quiet sobs falling on his shoulder.
It was going to be okay. He was going to stay.

Back in reality, on a ward in Manchester called Hyde, in a room where Sam Tyler was in a coma, the telly was on.
“Now the moment you’ve all been waiting for… the Christmas Special of Doctor Who.”
The End.
So, now we've reached the end of this story. It's over, officially so. All six parts have been posted. What are your thoughts? Was it good? What was good? Was there anything that was less good? Feedback is good for the soul and I'd love to know your thoughts :D
