I just finished my first Korean drama: My Love Patzzi. 13 lovely episodes and I figured I'd post a review. Of course, I won't tell you all about the ending so I'll try to be as vague as possible as I try to convert you all into watching this show (even if you don't usually watch Asian dramas ;))

First off, what is a review without a quick summary of the plot? Well, it's about this girl called Song-yi (red sweater in the photo) and she's best friends with Hee-won (the sour looking girl in the suit). They've been at odds ever since childhood when Hee-won "stole" the guy that Song-yi liked. Ever since then guys have used Song-yi to get to Hee-won. When they are older, Hee-won arranges for Song-yi to get a job at where she works - an amusement park. It turns out that the guy that Song-yi liked as a child works (the one that Hee-won "stole") there (the guy in the brown shirt with the blue stripes).

Anyway, Hee-won is the kind of person who everyone believes to be sweet and kind but inside she's actually a really nasty and selfish person, whereas Song-yi, who has quite the temper and is really aggressive towards people, is actually really lovable and open once you work past the facade.

So Hee-won is mean to Song-yi and in order to get back, Song-yi sneaks into the storage one night and she accidentally cuts one of the wires on a project that Hee-won's been working on. Then, Seung-joon (boss' son who's come to work there) takes it out on a test drive and the train (the project) catches fire and Song-yi saves him. Seung-joon then starts to become interested in Song-yi and well... I don't want to give too much of it away, but... you just have to watch.

My own thoughts: Well, I adored it. I think it must share place with ISWAK (still haven't seen the season one finale though) on the top of all the Asian dramas I've watched (The Prince Who Turned Into A Frog is a second but that show got quite tiresome towards the end and I never managed to see the end). Korean dramas seem to be more... "developed" in their TV making or at least they don't have that "unique" quality to it that ISWAK and TPWTIAF has. There's more high quality drama here in a way. I'm not saying that the actors are better (they very well might be) but there aren't any sound effects that will distract you from the actors' performances and I think the shots that are used are more effective than the Taiwanese dramas I've seen - they convey exactly what you want without being too obvious.

I think that the actors are great. Especially the guy that played Hyun-sung (the guy Song-yi liked that Hee-won stole) and the woman playing the lead but the ones that played Hee-won and Seung-joon deserves worthful mentions. Personally, I found the subplot with Hyun-sung's best friend a little bit tiresome so I skipped most of that (being impatient and all) but some might like it.

To summarize, the show has a lot of heart and is so awesome that I can hardly describe it. It's definitely a show right up my alley. It's romantic, touching etc. and well... I just love it. Please give this show a chance :D

(also, sorry if the summary was confusing, but I figured I'd try to write one myself since I don't think the one floating around the Internet is as good)
