My Christmas wishlist
Nov. 12th, 2008 10:41 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
At first I thought I wasn't going to participate in
holiday_wishes but then I started looking around there and I got so much inspiration so I decided to make one (behold the power of copy and paste! :D):
1. Paid Account/Additional Userpics.
I really really want some paid account time and userpics this year. I haven't had it for a very long time and the ads are more often than not causing troubles for me and it's always a little bit sad when you can't use all of those gorgeous icons that you found all around LiveJournal. It might feel a bit greedy or selfish to wish that for a wishlist on LiveJournal, what do I know?, but it's what I want for Christmas.
2. Josh Groban's albums Noël and/or A Collection.
Josh Groban's music always makes me so relaxed and for me, it's like food for the soul. The world just becomes a little bit better when listening to the music.
3. An iPod.
Seriously. If anyone have a spare somewhere that they want to throw or something. My sister and my little sister are beginning to tease me because I'm iLess. But I'm not like... asking anyone to run out and buy me a completely new one. I just thought I'd throw it out there since I know some people just have them lying around since they buy new ones ;)
Truth be told, I'm pretty content with my life and I just... I don't know. Compared to many people I'm very very fortunate and it seems like like the opportune time to instead of ask things for myself to mention some charities that I think are really deserving of your attention. But if you ever feel like 'hey, I feel like giving this person something' or anything, don't hesitate.
4. Sponsor a child through SOS Children's Villages.
I cannot tell you how important this is to me. I encourage everyone to put aside some money and give it to a child who is definitely in need of your goodwill, much more than you might imagine. I'm so glad I'm typing this rather than actually saying it because I have a tendency to get emotional (as I always do when I get really passionate about something) and I would probably start crying. I cannot tell you how strongly I feel that every one who have the means should support a child. And if this organisation is not your cup of tea, I encourage you to look elsewhere (I live in Sweden I know of a few but those are Swedish and I'm not sure if they are international). Children do not choose to be born into such difficult circumstances and I think it is very important to help as much as you can.
5. Support WWF.
The environment is very important, regardless if you believe in global warming or not, and to give money to preserve it is never a waste of time.
6. Mixed CDs
I love to get mixed CDs from people. It broadens my awareness of music all around. Feel free to give me anything (except really death metal or hiphop, I can't understand that music) and feel free to throw anything from any culture.
7. Surprise me! :D
If you feel like surprising me with something - a Christmas card, a tea flavour, anything - feel free. I love getting random things. It doesn't have to be anything big. If you feel like it, I'm sure it will be very much appreciated. (hint: I'm a real dark chocolate junkie).
8. Books.
Preferably something that... I don't know, will teach me something. It can be about confidence, political systems, history, philosophy - anything. I love broadening my mind to new things. Or maybe some fiction book that you just felt 'everyone needs to read this'. Book suggestions work too if you cannot afford to send anything. I really want to learn things and I'm a firm believer that books are power ;)
9. Kind deeds.
Open the door for an old lady, have a little bit more patience with that person that just won't leave you alone, volunteer somewhere and help out. I'm very much a supporter of the idea of 'Be the change you want to see in the world' and it would be such a lovely thing to know that out there, kindness lives, especially since everyone is painting out these days that the world is doomed, it would be nice to know that even though things might look dark, we are never doomed as long as we try our best to be the best people we can be. It doesn't have to be anything big, just help me make the world a little bit better :)
10. Be happy.
Far too many people are tormented by self-doubt, sadness, depression, pressure from all sorts of directions and whatnot. My last wish for this year is that you will treat yourself good this year and the next that is to come. Don't listen to people if they say that you aren't worth anything - they're wrong - and treat yourself to some small happiness, it makes a big difference. It might be counted into the ninth wish, but I feel as though it needs to emphasised.
Those are my wishes for this year. I don't know if any of them can be considered 'cheesy' but to be honest, I'm not the kind of person who writes stuff just to have them written, especially when it comes to important things. Thank you so much for your time and for reading through this.
If you want to send anything, you can email me at aliasagent [at] gmail . com
Again, feel free to give me anything if you want to, if not, that's totally fine. Also, if you have any wishlists, drop a link and I'll check it out.

Date: 2008-11-13 05:09 am (UTC)Yay, that sounds absolutely amazing .D Seriously. I would support eight children if I could afford it, but you know how it is ;)
Yayness *dances* When it comes to Josh Groban, it's more of an actual album since I'm of the conviction that his music ought to be heard in a stereo rather than on a computer. But other than that, mp3 files are more than welcome if you can't afford to send stuff :)

Date: 2008-11-13 08:51 am (UTC)lol are you talking about me perhaps? XD Well, technically, we don't have any laying around, cause we use 'em all still, but I mean, we're 5 in this family, and together we have 6 iPods plus an iPhone. But dad uses all 3 gadgets of his. Otherwise maybe I could've talked him into giving you one. ;)
What I can do though, is send you some music :D And maybe a book if I can find something interesting. ;)
I think I have your adress, somewhere :P but if not I'll just ask over msn later :)
Oh one thing though, is there any music you really don't like, artists you can't stand? Cause I don't wanna give you music that you'll hate if I can prevent it ;P
edit: i just realised that you wrote that you didn't like death metal & hiphop. *slow* lol :P ok, but any specific artists in other genres you despise? ;P hah

Date: 2008-11-13 10:58 am (UTC)Exactly, if you don't have my address, just send me an email or wait till I'm on MSN :)
Hmm. I can't stand hiphop. And Madonna. But other than that I'm pretty much open to everything. Oh, and no High School Musical-esque ;) I thought I'd mention that just in case ;) Hehe. You're not slow at all, it's a valid question :)
