The icon dilemma

I have Basic account right now which allows the usage of six icons, which is awesome, but I really want to add at least one other icon but I can't delete anyone of those I have at present because I love them all. Then I'm faced with the possibility of having to convert to Plus level (since I can't afford a Paid account) but the problem is then that the Basic account status, which has now been more or less terminated by the LJ staff, will disappear forever.

What would you do? Change to Plus or stay Basic?

I really want a Twilight icon since I lack book fandoms being represented in my icon space (and I'm really excited about the movie to boot).

I was under the impression that people who registered before May 1 would never lose the possibility to swap back to basic status. Only those registereing after that date have plus by default and no option of basic.

Hmm. I was under the impression that if you changed to plus after they changed it, you'd lose your Basic account but perhaps I'm in the wrong... I hope I am. Are you sure? ^^

Btw, I adore your icon. I srsly need more Zach icons. And Heroes in general. I saw a Sylar vid yesterday while I was supposed to be studying and I'm thinking about rewatching Heroes.

Check the news for the exact information. I am 99% sure I am right and other people I know have been going about it with the same assumption.

Okies, although I can't find it (I'm one of those people who can't see the forest because of the trees, you know? I seriously can't find that entry that mentions the termination of the basic account status...)

If it's true that you can't switch back to basic anymore, I'd say stick to basic until you can't stand the small icon space anymore/you can afford a paid one :)
Or, you know, it's your birthday soon and I haven't figured out what to get you yet, so.... ;)

I'm pretty sure canadian_turtle is right. I remember that only new members could not change back ever while one ones still had the choice.

Your account is old enough that you can switch back and forth between basic and plus. I've done it on one of my RP accounts. I think everyone before March, 2008 can switch.

so, LJ will cost money for everyone or will the + things remain..I think that they should keep the basic accounts, I mean, it is not everyone that wants advertisement on their journal.
