I was about to fall off my chair this morning when I logged on and saw that my paid account had been refilled. Thank you so much
lizrocks *huggles you into a thousand small lovely pieces* You're such a sweetheart. Thank you so much :D
Huge happy birthday
buffy_harris :D Have a great one :D
I spoke to my little sister last night (the one I don't get along with all too well, although I only have one little sister so I'm really out of other candidates) and it really felt like we connected a bit, you know? Felt a little bit like... we understood each other. We've never been particularly close because we have totally different perspectives on the world and what she might feel is justified I might deem as... completely inappropriate behaviour. So that was nice.
Is it just me, or does Heroes still, in general, suck? There's not really that much of a suspense and nothing really happens. It's like they have an episode, then they end it somewhere in the middle. Which creates the feeling that nothing really happens because for me, when it's really interesting is when an action is performed that you know is bad and then you end just as the consequences are beginning to be revealed. For example in Dexter, that always ends more on the "consequence" side than the sort of "action" side that Heroes seems to go with. A problem doesn't need to be gigantic or epic but if it's dealt with correctly, everyone can enjoy it and get invested in it. And this is where I feel Heroes is failing. The cast isn't necessarily too huge (although it's one BIG cast) and I think that they give their characters too many lines.
For example, at HRG's "funeral" when Claire shatters her father's ashes into the ocean, it sounds great and emotional and all but despite the tears in Claire's face and the heartfelt lines delivered by her, at least I felt... nothing. I think that the scene would've been more effective if, for example, Sandra had gone to shattered the ashes (because at least that's what I think should've been done because duh, she was married to him) but Claire stopped her and asked if she couldpossibly without an actual line being delivered, just sort of silent as if we as viewers are watching from afar (again, why Claire did it, I'll never understand, or at least not right now) and then there would be this completely silent scene where Claire just walks towards the camera and then instead of repeating what we as viewers have been saying since episode 2, she'd just sort of look sad and cry. The lines in that scene just took the magic out of it and made Claire seem annoying and slow.
Am I completely off?

Date: 2007-11-28 05:48 am (UTC)Then again, I love Heroes and have not been as nitpicky as others of the things that happened this season. *shrugs*

Date: 2007-11-28 08:29 am (UTC)I don't know why I'm so picky. I guess I just am. Or maybe the show will improve later because I didn't like the first part of the first season either.

Date: 2007-11-28 08:38 am (UTC)I just hope that the strike doesn't last long and production will be running again, but I have hopes that Kring will manage to fix things he realizes went awry this season for the next volume.

Date: 2007-11-28 08:51 am (UTC)I remember the interview as well. Personally, if I was Kring, I would've tried to reinvent the show so that the people that were watching would be on the edge of their seat, not redo last season.

Date: 2007-11-28 08:57 am (UTC)Yeah, I think in hindsight Kring knows this too. I also think that some of the things that happened this season that others weren't happy with seemed good at the time of brainstorming them, but when it didn't register with the viewers they realized it wasn't.
