Icon colouring

I made a new colouring technique yesterday and I suddenly started wondering which one is better and therefore I need your help.

Well, right now I'm a big fan of simplicity and elegance and I think those are two qualities the first set has. (Man, do I sound like I'm on a job interview or what?) And the coloring seems really appropriate for what's going on in them - it's like you're focusing more on the characters and their emotions than overpowering the icon with really loud coloring. Aaaalso, the second set is somewhat grainy and pixelated, and it seems like it's because of the intense blues you used.

They're all rediculously pretty, though.
