Happy birthday
bachicka! I hope you'll have an awesome birthday.
(ranting - dissing myself - warning)
My fashion interest has returned to me with a venegeance (probably isn't the correct spelling but whatever). It has to do something with this wonderful autumn fashion that is going around but it's also making me slightly depressed. My legs are too short for me to swear most things, I look hideous (I mean like most of the time seriously, trust me. Hair is a mess, never learned make-up so I don't wear it). Also my figure sucks. Small chest, hips/tighs bigger than Europe (okay, might not be entirely true but for me they are huge - everyone else has much tinner tighs. My tighs reminds me of Mariah Carey's. Euughhh) and my stomach makes me look pregnant (I need to work out, I remember when I used to work out and I got a stomach that was sort of acceptable, I want it back). Okay, I might not look pregnant but I think it's the stomach (you know the actual stomach, not the area people call the stomach, but the actual stomach inside of you) that pokes out or something. I hate it. I want a defined waist.
I want to be in a size 6 (depending on the clothes, I am a size 6) and not a size 8. In US mesures a size 6 is a 4 and a size 8 is 6. In Sweden it's the mesurements are 34 and 36. I might just be picky but I just... guh, I'm having a girly phase. I want to be 5'25" and not 5'0". I wanna be pretty for a change.
Again, today I'm extremely girly but it seems as if my clothes obsession might go hand and hand with my emo girly rants about my apperance. I suppose I've been looking too much on ads and stuff where people are tall and have like the biggest stomach area in the world that makes every piece of clothing looks gorgeous on them.
Shopping list for tomorrow:
Shoes
Tops
Training clothes
Socks
Underwear
Hair stuff
Cardigans
There's this make up store in the city called The Make Up Store where they can apply make up on you and give you make up worth for like 200 SEK for 200 SEK and I probably need to go there but I've heard some very nasty stuff about that place. Or rather, I've only heard one thing about that place and that was that an employee were completely trashing someone there and gave them a moisterer that would make their skin less dry and less filled with pimples but it turned out it did just the opposite.
I hate being not girly and know these stuff. Seriously. I despise it. I don't like the way I look with make up and I hate the way I look without. I've only looked pretty once and then it wasn't even me who did the make up.
I know people hate entries like this (at least I do) but... man, I need to vent. And I need a gym card.... *goes to my Sugarmamma AKA my mother*

Date: 2006-08-25 03:53 pm (UTC)i was pretty much a tomboy when i was like 13 but then as i grew up my mom and sister taught me a lot of things. i've never been as girly as others but i have develope my own style and a fashion sense.
you obviously need someone to help, no one can be expected to learn everything on their own.
it doesn't matter if you don't look like model.
i've always thought the most important thing is being comfortable, that you think you look good. cause if you do, everything is better.

Date: 2006-08-25 03:54 pm (UTC)Try finding clothes and pieces that compliment your figure or tone down things that you don't like about it. I get not being happy with your figure, I have the exact same problems you do but sometimes there are little things you can do that can help. :)

Date: 2006-08-25 04:05 pm (UTC)That's true, I agree with you and understand it. I suppose I'm just going into this strange rant because I'm just really starving *glares at my mother for not fixing dinner*

Date: 2006-08-27 12:39 am (UTC)Since I went to a modeling/finishing school one summer and graduated fashion school, this topic is my area of expertise. :p If you want makeup tips, feel free to ask me (a picture would be helpful, since I could figure out what features to play up/play down, but in the absence of one a description would be fine). Do you tweeze (or wax, if you have the money) your eyebrows? If not, you really should. It does wonders to open up the eye and bring out your features. It's the first advice I give anyone.
Hair: A good cut does wonders. I know how you feel... my hair is all long and scraggly now and badly needs a trim and root touch-up. There are a lot of really cute short styles you can get that are very low-maintenance. In grad school, I sported a bob like Reese Witherspoon in Sweet Home Alabama. It was incredibly low maintenance and easy to take care of, and it looked really cute, too! It took me about ten minutes to blow-dry (I have naturally curly hair) and that was it.
Fashion: I actually have a similar kind of figure to you... small on top and wide on the bottom. Bleh. Some general tips: Wear dark colors on the bottom to de-emphasize hips. For tops, styles with ruching, gathering, or other details around the bustline create an illusion of fullness. Push-up bras do wonders (I wear almost exclusively Victora's Secret Miracle Bra). Create the illusion of an hourglass shape by wearing belted styles... e.g. a dress with a belt detail around the waist (avoid low-slung belts that sit on the hips though... it calls attention to the area, which you don't want). Stick to tailored, streamlined styles when choosing pants. Avoid anything with pleats b/c they make your stomach look poochy. For jeans, avoid skinny or stovepipe styles and choose a straight-leg or boot-cut style to balance hips. Oh, and be careful of capri or cropped styles--they can make legs look shorter. Avoid skirts that hit right below the knee--those shorten legs. Choose a miniskirt or a mid-calf style instead.
Shoes: Since you're not girly, you're probably going to hate what I'm about to say, so feel free to ignore it. But heels are your friend. I have rather short legs, so I avoid flats like the plague. I live in heels, platforms, and wedges. Even if it's only a low heel--an inch or two--it does wonders to make legs look longer, slimmer, and more toned. I swear this is true. My legs look awful in ballet flats but the second I slip on my platform sandals they look long and toned. If you're worried about the comfort factor, you get used to walking in heels after a while. And this is really important: DO NOT BUY HEELS FROM PAYLESS or anywhere like that. They will shred your feet! It's worth the splurge to pay upwards of $50 for a good pair of heels... they're much more comfortable and well-made.
Even expensive heels might hurt your feet at first, but trust me, you will get used to them. They're like contact lenses--you start out wearing them for a few hours and soon you can wear them all day. I have a pair of platform boots with 3" stacked heels that I adore--they're so comfortable that I wear them while traveling. I could also walk up and down stairs hauling all my equipment in fashion school, while wearing my favorite 3" stiletto boots.
If stilettos scare you (they take getting used to), try stacked-heel styles or platform wedges. Those are a bit more stable and comfortable.
Sorry this comment got so long, lol. I tend to go off when talking about fashion. :p Feel free to comment here or on my LJ if you have any questions. I'm happy to help!

I'll borrow my mother's camera (I so need to get my own) to photograph my horrible face :P And my hair will probably look like a complete mess and perhaps dirty but at the moment I don't have the enegry to shower *just got up* I'll make a filtered post when I've taken them :D Filtered posts are love :)
