Long? Well you asked for it! :D I got you something from all four houses of FA, just to get you started.
Luna's Year (http://www.schnoogle.com/authors/michelle_31a/LY01.html) Luna Lovegood begins her fifth year at Hogwarts, for the first time with a circle of friends, though not without the accompanying dangers Wonderful, wonderful story. It's one of the best Harry/Luna fics I've read and the writer does an amazing job at keeping Luna in character (something which is really difficult IMO)
Distractions (http://www.thedarkarts.org/authorLinks/Elsha/Distractions/) Theodore Nott would like to forget a future he doesn't want - and music has always provided a distraction. Anne Fairleigh just wants the chance to practice her flute in peace. But a chance friendship between pureblood Slytherin and Muggle-born Hufflepuff soon raises the very questions Theodore has been avoiding and Anne never thought to ask. Also a wonderful story. The characterization here is lovely, especially when it comes to Theodore who is such a typical Slytherin in the beginning and ends up changing realistically (using that word since realistic changes can be quite difficult to write). If you don't mind reading about minor characters, I'd definitely recommend this.
Serpent's Bride (http://www.astronomytower.org/authorLinks/Reiko_Naoe/) In Ginny Weasley’s 6th year, Draco Malfoy saved her life and that’s a wizard’s debt. Now, five years later its payback time. Especially now that Draco’s in desperate need of a wife. This is basically the Draco/Ginny fic. It's stories like these that makes me love the pairing even though it has no chance in canon.
The Tale of the Lovely Thermometer (http://www.riddikulus.org/authors/nimue1540/TLT.html) It's not easy being small, and nobody knows this better than Ron Weasley. Between monsters, brothers, bloody noses and crooked Evergreens, Ron's fifth Christmas Eve is sure to be the worst one ever. Now you've got the novellength, the friendship fic, the romance... here's a more humorous story for you. :) It's a very cute and very funny (in a subtle and natural way) fic, one of my favorites.
