Exactly. In a way "he" did get one of those endings (even if it was Clone!Doc) but I don't think that makes him much happier. I can just imagine how much it hurt for him to leave Rose behind. Poor soul. I think that he perhaps take the higher road so often because he's scared of letting anyone in on the same time because he knows he'll just lose them again. That's what I call a bad circle ;)
