(not caught the Harry Potter reading hiatus illness? But I do agree, time seems to fly by or something lately.)
I was sort of going for a 'Father's Day' like scenario. Even if it technically wasn't FD, having like... two copies from the same copy (er, does that make sense?) on the same place at the same time, touching, must make it some sort of weak spot in time. Also, The Doc isn't used to having people in coma while they are standing next to him so... I suppose it was also some of 'just to be sure thing' that the Doc said to Sam not to touch the body.
