Yes I read that and was utterly unimpressed about the direction they were going in. So they're basically taking out the buddy-cop/culture clash/antagonistic/us against the world relationship and making a seventies love story? I suggest that it might suck...a lot. They'll probably make Gene the bad guy...if they do this then they could add in werewolves, aliens and people from the future...and it'll still suck.
