X-Men Movie thoughts.
I rewatched X-Men with my family (mom + Hany) and other than the lack of reality they found in superpowers, they liked it. While I was watching I realized something which I think makes me understand why I prefer Logan/Marie to Logan/Jean (eugh...).
In the movie, Logan meets Marie (as you all know) and sparks fly, our inner-fangirls squee and even though he may not want to, he takes Marie/Rogue with him. He doesn't want to, but he still wants to, y'know? He could've just kept driving.
Anyway, with Jean - it's a completely other matter. When I saw their scenes it felt like something that was obligated, not only because of the story (triangles always - or well, most of the time - add good dymanic in movies) but something in Logan himself. It felt like he felt it was obligated to flirt with Jean. Then a lot of flirting goes on and in the second last scene, Jean tries to form some sort of emotional connection with him:
"You know, you and me..."
And he interrupts her by saying: "How's the professor?" One might argue and say that he said that because he already knew the line she was gonna say and didn't want to hear himself be rejected, but to me, it felt more like he wasn't interested. He wasn't interested in making a deeper relationship with Jean. They had a spark, but he's unwilling to develop it. Simply because he doesn't want to.
But that's how I saw it. Do you agree? Disagree?
Also, what kind of makes my heart squee is that he always sets Rogue before everyone else. He had already set her in a seperate category - making a deeper connection with her, connecting her to himself - and he for example, is willing to sacrifice his own life for hers, he asks about Rogue the first thing he does when he wakes up etc. etc. He has that deeper connection with Rogue that he pretty much refused Jean.
Anyway, I'm unsure where I want to continue with this so I'll just stop there. I'll might do a picspam later ;)
Night everyone :D
